Who We Are

The State Varsity Christian Fellowship - UP Manila is a hub of students and alumni at the University of the Philippines Manila who believe that there is more to this life than we realize. Only in God could we find such meaning and color in the life journey we take.

The community aims to be a source of inspiration, discipleship and TRUE spirituality among the students of the campus. We believe that through changing the heart of the campus through God's love, we're changing the nation.

Where and When We Meet

Execom and Committee Heads at our Tambayan. LAST SUPPER BA 'to? Joke :D

We meet regularly except on Sundays (where there are no people at the College of Arts and Sciences, UP Manila) at our Tambayan (SVCF Tambayan) beside the CAS UPM Guardhouse. CGs or Cell Groups are held everyday, where sharing, fellowship, and inspiration are experienced.

Prayer during Execom Meetings every Friday

DPMs or Daily Prayer Meetings are also held at the Tambayan. Execom meetings and prayer gatherings are held every Wednesday lunchtime.

Big F's or Big Fellowship are also held at the homebase, every Friday where CGs and students from different Christian orgs can mingle. Speakers are from IVCF Philippines and they occasionally visit the tambayan every so often.

Our Statement of Faith

The Statement of faith is our declaration. We BELIEVE in the...

1. The unity of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead (Isa. 44:6; 1 Cor. 8:6; Heb 1:8ff; 1 Cor. 3: 17ff; Matt 28:19).

2. The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption, and final judgement (Gen. 1; Isa. 55; Deut 29:29; 2 Tim. 3:16ff; Jn. 3:16; Acts 2:22ff; 1 Pet. 4:5).

3. The divine inspiration and the entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (Matt. 5:18; Jn. 10:35; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21; Matt. 4:1-11; Acts 4:18ff).

4. The universal sinfulness and guilt of all men since the fall, rendering them subject to God's wrath and condemnation (Gen. 3; Rom. 1:18-3:20; Rom. 5:12-21).

5. Redemption from the guilt, penalty, dominion, and pollution of sin, solely through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God (Mk. 10:45; Rom. 5:19; Heb. 9:26, 28; 1 Pet. 2:24; Acts 4:12).

6. The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the dead and His ascension to the right hand of God the Father. (Lk. 24:31, 36; Jn. 20:19; 1 Cor. 15:20-23; Acts 1:9-11; Lk. 24:50ff; Heb. 1:3, 4).

7. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration. (Jn. 3:33ff; 1 Pet. 1:23; 1 Jn. 3:14; Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13; 2 Cor. 5:17; 1 Cor. 3:16; Jn. 14:16).

8. The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone. (Rom. 3:20; Gal. 2:16; Rom. 5:9; Tit. 3:7; Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11).

9. The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer. (Rev. 3:20, 22; 2 Cor. 3:18; Gal 5:22; Rom. 8:26; Eph. 4; 1 Cor. 12; Eph. 6:10-18).

10. The only Holy Universal church which is the Body of Christ to which all true believers belong. (Eph. 4:7-16; Eph. 5:25).

11. The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Jn. 14:3; Acts 1:11; Matt. 24:30; 1 Thess. 4:15-17; Rev. 22:20; Matt. 24:36; Acts 1:7; 1 Thess. 5:2; Mk. 13:33-37).

An IVCF Staff as our Guest

The Big Fellowship this Friday was rendered with funny ice-breakers and uplifting praise and worship.

Our guest was an IVCF Staff who just came for the first time at UP Manila. His name is 'Kuya Eric.' He exhorted the students present with a challenge. Read the Bible!

He exhorted to us God's Word and the third SVCF Statement of Faith: "The divine inspiration and the entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct."

1. Divine Inspiration
"is originally given" -handed down from generation to generation, with the Bible writers ranging from time immemorial up to 90+ AD, with precise accuracy and uniting theme proving God's inspiration among the Bible's writers.

2 Tim. 3: 16

3 Ways to Authenticate
-Bibliographical
-Internal Evidence (what the Bible claims in itself)
-External Evidence (astounding accuracy of the Bible in contrast with major Greek and Roman historical books)

Why the New Testament is accepted as the Word of God
-Book must be written by a man of God (e.g. Paul)
-Writer and writings must conform with the acts of God
-Book must have the power of God
-Book must be accepted by the People of God
(2 Peter 3:15-16 / 1 Cor. 14:37 / Acts 2:42-47)

2. Entire Trustworthiness

Manuscripts came from the faithful copying of the Masorits, the Masoretic Texts.
Old Testament were copied faithfully and accurately by the Jewish Scribes.

According to archeological findings, the reliability of the Old Testament is 95%. The New Testament in turn has 99.5% reliabilty. God indeed protects his WORD from corruption and destruction.

3. Supreme Authority

How Jesus regarded the Scriptures (Matt. 19:46)
How much of your life submits to the authority of the Scriptures?

Conclusion: Every aspect of our lives must stand side by side with the Bible, without contradicting it. Remember, RIGHT DOCTRINE, RIGHT LIFESTYLE!
